Can you frame part of your screen unused?

I dropped my Mac, and now there is gray bar on the right side of the screen. As temporary fix can I portion my screen so that about an 1" on right side of the screen isn't used. Like crop the screen estate that the OS is using.

Underscan in built-in display?
