Code for text message forwarding not displaying

Yesterday my MacBookAir and iMac stopped sending and receiving SMS messages via Messages. I am running Sierra, and my phone is running iOS 10.3.3. I tried to fix the problem on my iMac (10.12.6) by going into Messages->Text Message Forwarding and clicking off and back on the permission to forward texts to my iMac. When I try to turn forwarding on for my iMac, my phone tells me to enter the code on my iMac into my phone, but I'm not getting a code on the computer. Help?
