Is it possible to remove the glass panel on top...

On the previous models this was possible. Just wondering if I can do that on this model too?

I don't think it's possible. Apparently the glass itself is 'welded' somehow to the screen.

Actually it is sealed with some sort of adhesive. Maybe a type of silicone adhesive.

The seal can be broken by carefully using thin non- metal implement and carefully break the seal between the iMac and the glass. This is time consuming and I am not sure what you need to use to reseal the glass to the iMac.

Why would you spend 2000 bucks on a computer and then try and destroy it through home repairs?

Oh dear, that is very sad. I am not a fan of glossy screens but love Apple's tech. Still don't get why they don't offer matte screens.

The problem with the glass it is makes the computer extra glossy and I want a matte or mattish screen.

Not trying to destroy it. Trying to get the screen less glossy. It feels like using it wearing sunglasses at present level. Don't like the screen that dark, prefer matte screens... Does anyone know an hd matte screen that can be used with mac mini?

There are anti-glare films available, although I've never seen what they're really like in the flesh, as it were.

This is the first one I Googled, but I expect there are others available:

What MichelPM wrote is perhaps misleading. You CAN pry the entire screen free from the computer--it is secured with an adhesive--but the outside glass is fused to the LCD and the two can not be separated, as Paul wrote.

Do that and you will void the warranty.

This is moot, since it can't be done.

You can achieve many things using brute force and ignorance!

The OP has already been given all the information needed to know that this isn't possible, and has moved on to asking about anti-glare films. So why keep harping on it?

lmao!! amen to that!!:)

Yeah,

When the seal is broken, the whole LCD screen assembly with glass comes free.

The glass is now bonded to the LCD, itself, now.

The screen is a lot less glossy on the new iMacs than with the previous models.

I, instantly, took the glass of my model iMac as I couldn't stand the glare.

The combination of the glass on top of the LCD, plus there is some air between the two just makes the earlier iMac screens unbearably glossy and very hard on the eyes.

I use one of the matte black metal MacFrames to cover over all the exposed perimeter.
