Is it okay to skip the 10.12.6 update?

I am wondering if it's okay to skip this update because it froze my computer and I had to revive it from a TM backup. I have tried various things to make the update work, but it isn't happening. If I skip this update, will Mac allow me to pick up the next one or is missing a step not an option?

Its ok to skip although it includes the latest security patches, 10.12.6 might be the last update to Sierra as the new macOS will probably be released next month. Apple will still update security and Safari for a while but you may need 10.12.6 installed to get these. Did you try the Combo updater, Download macOS Sierra 10.12.6 Combo Update

There is nothing wrong with 10.12.6 so your problem is probably only associated with your Mac, so you may want to find out what that might be, try https://etrecheck.com/
