How do I resize split screen apps in iOS 11?

In iOS10 I swiped from the right and then I had a list of apps I could split screen with.

In iOS11 the only way I've figured is to have the app in the dock. If the app is not currently in the dock, then I can't split screen with it.  I hope that's wrong, because if so, then the usability just went down.

In iOS 10, I just held my finger on the split bar to resize it, and if I pushed it into a corner, I got single view again.

In iOS11, I have no freaking idea how to resize a split screen app. I also have no idea how to get back to single view. I had to kill the split app to accomplish that. Horribly uninuitive interface compared to iOS10.

Can someone please explain what I'm missing, and I dearly hope it's obvious.
