How do I copy my email messages to my new ipad?

Hello,

Just got a new iPad, and I would like to transfer the email messages that are saved on the old ipad to the new one. I'm not bothered for the settings, as they are easy enough to do on the new one.

I checked the articles about backing up and restoring, but then noticed this article that says (if I read it correctly) that whilst the account settings will be backed up, the saved messages won't. Well, that's the exact opposite of what I want. I'm not bothered about the account settings, but I specifically want the saved messages to be backed up, as I want to copy them across to the the new ipad.

Anyone able to help? This all seems very complex for what should be a simple operation. Thanks

A good question here would be to confirm who your email provider is? If it's Google this is an IMAP account and any files/folders you have saved on the server will appear on your iPad. Sorry if it isn't GMAIL this is what I use, and can only advise on that perspective.

Hello, thanks for the quick reply.

This account is running from an email server on our company server, it's not one of the biggies. It's a regular POP account as far as I know. The server only holds messages for 14 days, so anything older than that will have gone from the server, but may be saved on the ipad.

Do you have a backup of your original iPad?  If so you can try doing a restore on the new one using the backup from the old one, I can't guarantee this will work but worth a try?

Yes, I have backed up my old iPad, as I was trying to restore the old backup onto the new iPad when I came across that article. If I read it correctly, then even a full backup doesn't include saved emails. Did I miss something? That article does seem to imply this.

As it happens, I couldn't restore the old backup to my new iPad anyway, as iTunes refused to see the new iPad. Please see this question I asked (so far without response).

Well, in case it helps anyone, I did a full backup of my old ipad and restored it onto my new ipad, only to find that it hadn't copied over the saved email message, nor my photos or music. It did copy over the email account details (big deal, like that's so hard to set up on the new ipad) and my apps (again, like it's so hard to download them again).

Were you ever able to find a way to get your cached/saved POP emails over to your new iPad?  How can there NOT be a way to do this?  I don't care that POP is old technology -- the iPad allows it to be used so it should provide sufficient functionality to make full use of it.  Mailbox export/import is a basic function of any mail application.

I'm in the same boat not as if i can copy a PST file across as i would with a new PC
