Press and hold the side button

Support pages say press and hold is used for SOS and to switch off the phone. How does this work?

Press the side button

• Press to show or hide the Dock.
• Press and hold to use SOS.
• Double-click to use Apple Pay.
• Press and hold to turn your watch on or off.

• Make an emergency phone call
• Turn on, wake, and unlock

Pressing and holding for a short time brings up the options to turn off, access medical ID or make an SOS call.

Pressing and holding for longer automatically starts an SOS call (this feature can be disabled, if preferred, to avoid accidental operation - see the first link above).
