Mac does not complete install of 10.12.6 was ok...

My Mac tried to update to Sierra 10.12.6 and it froze during install. The only way to recover was to use internet recovery and revert back to an El Capitain version from an old time machine back up. My Macbook Pro was running ok on 10.12.5 before this upgrade. So I have learned 3 things. 1. Always do a back up even for minor updates, 2. Wait at least 6 months before applying updates to OS X so others do the beta testing.... 3. Turn of autoupdates.

 

My question is how can I go back to 10.12.5 as I see I need to install 10.12.0 first but this appears unavailable?

There is no Sierra 10.12.7

Sierra 10.12.6 is available in the App Store.

You're welcome. You can restore to 10.12.5 if you have a Time Machine or other backup. Otherwise, 10.12.0 is no longer available.

 

Try installing 10.12.6 in Safe Mode.
