Keyboard randomly stops working

I am having this weird experience quite often on my MacBook keyboard where the keyboard randomly stops working. Instead of typing all key presses generate the sound as if I did an invalid command (when I say all keys I mean command, option, and control are included).

I am not really sure why this is happening or what is happening just that it starts randomly and goes for a few seconds.

I can't reliably reproduce this issue it just pops up. However sometimes it does appear as though it is linked to my use of the touchpad.

Any idea what this could be?

A few helpful notes:

I have been a Mac User for quite awhile and this has never happened on any of my other machines. The only input difference between my current Mac and previous ones is the addition of the TouchBar. However the touchbar isn't doing anything during these "freezes" also the error pops up even when I use an external keyboard and an external trackpad.

Edit: I have found a way to reliably reproduce at least one cause of this issue.

I noticed this specifically with the code folding command in Xcode however it so far seems to work with everything. Sometimes it takes more than one try.

Go to help on the top bar and search up a command (like find or new) and then click on the command to execute it. My keyboard will then be unresponsive for the next few seconds no matter where I click

Still not sure why this is happening and there are probably more cases that can cause this.
