How to get old comp info to sierra. HELP please

Bought a new iMac with Sierra today and I'm pulling my hair out with the crap I'm seeing; eg, mouse in Natural node scrolls up when I scroll down. Natural? You've go to be kidding and why is the font so small? I can't find anyway to change it. Any ideas?

Some time ago I was told how to 'Restore none data items from Time Machine to a new computer'. When I tried it, it wants to override/create a new user (I named it different to the old one). Tried to restore Computer & Networks Settings and nothing seems to happen, in that Safari and Mail have no additions.

I've created a Time Machine disc and want to restore the system using it. How do I do this?

Once I've done this how do I copy:

Mail emails and addresses and

Firefox bookmarks to Safari (old Safari isn't supported}?

If you can help, you will make an Old Geezer happy because you don't want to know what I thing of Sierra.

Scrolling direction is changed in System Preferences->Trackpad, so you can have it work the way you are used to (one if the very first things I do on a new mac).

You can get all your user account back from Time Machine in one go (that includes all your mail, settings, bookmarks etc).

Attach the TM drive to the new mac and start Migration Assistant (it is in /Applications/Utilities). From there it is pretty much “follow your nose”. I don’t recommend migrating applications and settings; take the opportunity to install fresh and up to date versions (from the App Store or from the Firefox site, for example) and avoid importing stuff that you probably haven’t used in years and may not work in the new OS.

Let us know if there is some difficulty.
