Incorrect Disk Utility Information/Unformatted ...

Hello --

I have a 2TB external drive.  I added a partition to it and something went wrong (next problem to debug) and I removed the partition.  The partition was 1.23TB large.

Right now in Disk Utility is shows 2TB for the primary volume but then 1.23TB of "Unformatted" space.  While the volume seems to be working ok, I'm concerned that I'm in some sort of corrupted state which is not good since this drive is for backups.  I ran the "First Aid" but it didn't complain of any issues.

Advice?

Thanks.

Did you erase/reformat the partition before deleting?

No. there was never any data in that partition.

Had the same problem.

I erased the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)" and it seems to fixed it but I was wrong.

Now I have 2 "unformatted" partitions instead of one!

I think the problem is with the "Encrypted" option the cause this issue.

Does anyone have a solution?

I don't see anything wrong.

You should be able to select the drive click the Partition button and extend the existing partition to use the currently unformatted space as well.
