Payment method declined on iTunes

 When attempting to update or download apps I am asked to sign in, and then verify my payment method (despite not actually buying anything). I fill in my details which are all definitely correct and then I get the following message:

I have been trying a different times throughout the week, and this is not a problem with my bank as I have used my card for other purchases.

Any help please?

Head over to https://appleid.apple.com and make sure that your credit card information is correctly entered.
