I use Chrome on my iMac. Recently, when Chrome is not open and I click on a link in an email, Chrome will open with three tabs. The first is on www.google.com. The third tab will be the web page from the link I clicked. The middle tab, however, has a web address of: search.safefinderchoose.com/{and then a series of zeros, dashes and letters}. Below is a screenshot of that tab.

Is this safe? Where did it come from? How do I get rid of it?

Notice the "uninstall" option in the lower right corner. It does not work. Clicking it simply takes me to the safefinder.com website, where there is no mention of uninstalling their software.
