User Created Play Lists in Apple Music

Now that all the changes to Apple Music associated with iOS 11 and High Sierra have hit I am interested in trying the service again.  One thing I am interested in is the shared playlist features.

Is it possible to search for and use publicly shared play lists on Apple Music? I'm looking for the same or similar experience Spotify provides where users can create and then "publish" a play list that anyone on the service can access.

My fear is that you can only share with people you are connected with/"friended" through Apple Music.

One of the reasons I left the service is that the curated play lists were overwhelmingly not what I was looking for.  I am hoping for user created lists to supplant/enhance what Apple provides.
