heart rate app not working after ios 4 update o...

I have a apple nike edition watch and after updating to iOS 4 the heart rate app isn’t working at all correctly it no longer takes readings in background and it doesn’t show resting rate at all it’s bugging me like mad I like to keep an eye on my heart rate and was the biggest reason I got the watch in the first place, I also use a iPhone 7+ paired to the watch and I have no issues at all with the phone (apart from the battery drains very fast now after update to iOS 11) please can someone help me with the issues I have?

Under watchOS 4, for Apple Watch Nike+ models (and certain others), the Heart Rate app reports your resting heart rate once it has gathered sufficient data.

To view your resting rate, open the Heart Rate app and scroll down the page (by swiping or turning the Digital Crown):

• Check your heart rate

Resting rate is also reported in the Health app on your iPhone (Health Data > Heart > Resting Rate:

If your heart rate is not being recorded as expected, then the following steps may help:

• Check that Wrist Detection is turned on and that, if passcode is enabled, you are unlocking your Apple Watch after placing it on your wrist:
  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Passcode > turn Wrist Detection on.

• Check that you are wearing your Apple Watch sufficiently snugly on the top of your wrist (if it is worn too loosely, your watch may believe that it has been removed).
  • Note that Wrist Detection can be affected by temporary or permanent skin changes, such as by some wrist tattoos.
  • Your heart rate. What it means, and where on Apple Watch you’ll find it. - Apple Support

• On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that both Fitness Tracking and Health are enabled.

• On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - check that both Fitness Tracking and Heart Rate are enabled.

• Restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch (normally):
  • Close the Watch app, Activity app and Health app (if open) on your iPhone:
    • Double-click the Home button, then swipe up on each app preview to close it.
  • Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first:
    • Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    • Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

• If the issue persists, then it may help to unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch:
  • The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch automatically when unpairing via the app.
  • Initially choose to Restore from Backup during set up (most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions, such as Apple Pay cards, passcode).
  • If the issue persists, consider instead unpairing and setting it up as a new watch.
  • Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone - Apple Support
  • Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If the issue persists, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:
