IMAP settings in Apple Mail
I have been using POP, but I want to change it to IMAP so that email is synced across devices, but I don't want thousands of emails stored for years on my Macbook and iPhone. My iMac will store all emails. Can I set up Apple mail on my Macbook so that it stores say, only the last year of emails?
IMAP email can be stored on the server rather than on the computer if you wish. But there is no automatic mechanism for deleting email after a certain time. You do that manually.
But if I go and delete emails on one device, they get deleted on all of them, right? I don't want that. If it's impossible, then I guess I have to stick to POP.
