Why don't iPods have a battery present counter

Your iPod Touch doesn't show the battery level indicator in the upper right hand corner that shows the battery level in green and red?

You can't figure out that half way green is 50%, 3/4 green is 75%, more than 3/4 green is 80-90%?

If you get below the 25% green indicator, it goes to red indicating 20% or less battery capacity.

I think when the battery indicator goes red, the iPod Touch puts up a warning at the 20, 10 and 5% battery level intervals.

Probably because of the smaller battery in the iPod (due to its slimmer format), the battery % is less accurate than in the iPhone/iPad and is subject to fluctuations.  So Apple probably decided not to show a numerical percentage and risk it being inaccurate.  But if you want the percentage, there are many third party free apps that will give you the battery percentage when you open them.  Search for  battery in the app store.
