Magic Mouse 2 right click not working anymore

my system:

Imac 27"Retina Late 2015

MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

Magic Mouse 2

The problem:

Magic Mouse right click not working anymore.

Background:

Some days ago, while trying to uninstall Android File Transfer, I accidentally eliminated a lot of files under /Libraries/Preferences. In particular, I eliminated the files as described in this page: How to uninstall Android File Transfer—uninstall guide , in particular as advised in this section:

Step 3: Detect the leftovers of Android File Transfer under the Library menu. Click “Library” after you headed to the Go menu in Finder. Search for folders /Library/Preferences/, /Library/Application/Support/, as well as the folder /Library/Caches/ one by one, and then delete all files in them respectively.

What I did after:

I had a chat with an Apple guy, who connected remotely to my Imac and tried different options, among which:

1. removing and repairing the mouse - did not work

2. checking the settings, in particular the right click option of the magic mouse; did several tries - did not work

3. created a new user and paired the mouse again - did not work

He suggested that the mouse could be faulty, so I took it to an Apple Store and tried there on another Imac; it works fine.

What can I do?

Side note: I use also a USB mouse; I never had problems using both.

I also use Parallels 13; the right click does not work in the VM anymore either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Reinstall macOS. In Step 3, it appears likely that you inadvertently deleted a required macOS component.

Click the last line of John's post. It is a link to an Apple Support article that explains how to reinstall the OS.

Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart) and select Recovery Volume. Run Disk Utility and select First Aid. Then re-install the OS.
