Terminal: No Scrollback

Hello,

Terminal has always exhibited this functionality, but since I did a new installation of the OS (Sierra 10.12.6), I CANNOT get it to work.

Steps to reproduce

[1] open terminal

[2] execute some random commands (etc. "ls -l" "cd /")

[3] type "exit" (without quotes of course)

[4] quit the terminal app

[5] re-open terminal app (new window opens with selected profile in prefs)

[6] EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: I should be able to use the up and down arrow keys to access the commands from my last session (I have the correct prefs set under "window" in the profile setup)

[7] Every new session has no history continuity

I have ALWAYS been able to do this. In fact, even before I reinstalled the OS that was the behavior I expected and got - I could use the up and down arrow keys and access commands from the last session. Now it seems as though the history is cleared every time and I cannot access previous commands from previous sessions. Like I said, I have been doing it like this for YEARS. I'm getting desperate and frustrated. Please help if you can.

Thanks!
