Restriction passcode

The restriction passcode won't take and keeps locking me out. I am trying to erase the content on the ipad to sell it. How do I bypass this? I don't ever even remember setting a restrictions passcode.

If you forget your Restrictions passcode, you need to erase your device, then set it up as a new device to remove the Restrictions passcode. Restoring your device using a backup won't remove the Restrictions passcode.
