Activate Family Shared Storage

What is the correct method to activate iCloud Storage Family Plan sharing?

Scenario:

I have a five person family in which myself and my wife were on 50gb paid plans.  I want to switch to the new shared 200gb plan for the entire family.  I upgraded my storage to 200gb and 'shared' per instructions on apple.com.  Myself and the three kids all began using the shared storage immediately.  The wife's account shows as "Not Using" per the attached screenshot.

Her current usage is greater than 5gb but less than 50gb.  What are the "correct" steps to move her from her own dedicated (paid) 50gb plan to the new family 200gb shared plan?

She should change her plan to the Shared Family Storage Plan, wait after it takes effect (usually logging out, then back in does it) and only then cancel her 50GB storage plan subscription.
