Multiple ID problems

Can anyone tell me how to delete  or disable the use of an ID?  I have 2 Apple ID's, one for a job from which I have just retired and one which I recently created. I want to use the newest one I setup. The App Store shows the old one, my iPad does as well, even though I changed it. When logging in to my account I have to use the old ID, but it shows the new ID once I have signed in. Can anyone tell me how to make everything use the new ID?
