macbook pro charging

I recently bought a 2017 Macbook Pro. The battery bar at the top displays the charging symbol and says the power . source is a power adaptor when the computer is not plugged in. Then, if the computer is plugged into the power adaptor, it makes the noise to display it is charging but changes power source to battery. The computer is charging while plugged into the power adaptor, even if it does not say it is because it displays 100%. How do I get the power source to display the correct information?
