How to add apps to the "open in" list in iPad
HHow does one add apps to the "open in" list on the iPad? Mine is an iPad 3rd gen from 2011.
If the app itself supports 'open in', and the type of document that you want to copy into it, then it should automatically show in the list - if it doesn't (and you've checked that the app supports it) then you could try deleting the app (after first taking a copy of any important content in it) and (assuming that it's still in the store) redownload it via the Purchased tab in the App Store app.

Thank you for this. I think I understand it this way: Whether or not an app shows up in the "Open in..." list is dependent on two things: 1) that the app itself is programmed to add itself to "Open in..." and 2) the app you open in which you click "Open in..." must be able to use the app in question (in other words, the app you are using must have a logical relationship to the apps in the "Open in..." list). Hope I got it. I just wish we could add apps on our own (as long as we knew they could be used in the the "host" app).
There are effectively three things that need to be met : the app that currently has the file has to support 'open in' to be able to copy the file ; the app that you want to copy the file to must support 'open in' ; and the app that you want to copy the file to must support the type of file that you are trying to copy e.g. if the document is a PDF document you shouldn't see image/photo apps as an 'open in' option
Sorry but I do not get how it works.
i have 2iPads and I want to open a klm file in an email using Google Earth.
In one iPad it shows me the option to open it with Google Earth.
in the other iPad it does not.
I have deleted and reinstalled Google Earth with no success.
regards
Patxi
