Music is not fully syncing to iphone on iTunes ...

I have an iphone 7 with a large library of music. Since updating to iTunes 12.7 when syncing new music files to my iphone 7 on ios10 it appears to transfer really slow and kept reporting 'cancelling sync' which kept attempting to transfer the files. I updated my phone to ios11 and it is still the same thing. I am getting partial files transferred over and the rest of the files keep getting grey'd out.

Any advice on what I can do to get these files transferred over to my phone? Is this due to the large number of files (about 27000 music files). I still have 64GB free of data on the phone.
