macbook pro trackpad moving on its own!

hello,

i have problem with my macbook pro, the trackpad moving on by itself! and open applications. i couldn't stop it!

Portables and Magic Trackpad: Jumpy or erratic trackpad operation

There are a few ways to fix this problem:

1. You might have some dirt and debris inside your computer. If anything is stuck in the Trackpad there are some ways to take it out. If you have a removable battery, take out the battery and then blow in the Trackpad. If you have a non-removable battery, you can keep pressing down on the sides of the Trackpad, hold it down, and blow in.

2. The Trackpad might have leveled down making the mouse stay clicked. The only way to do this is if you have a removable battery. Remove the battery and then push the Trackpad up from underneath. If you have a non-removable battery, take your Mac to the Genius Bar.

3. Your battery could be swelling making the Trackpad move. To check the condition of your battery, hold down the option key and click on the battery icon in the menu bar. If the condition is anything other than Normal, take your Mac to an Apple Store to get it replaced.

4. Do a SMC reset. To learn how to do that, go to https://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

5. Do a NVRAM/PRAM reset. To learn how to do that, go tohttps://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

6. If nothing above worked than you should take your Mac to an Apple Store.

Thank you this sovled my problem

for myself, my MBA trackpad and magic one too went crazy everytime my iphone 5 was plugged.

It solved my problem as soon as my ipad/iphone were unplugged !

Thanks Sooooo much! Removed batteries and blew out the chamber. Put fresh batteries in-mine were still 50%

but wanted to do the simplest things first. Now it is working perfectly! Thought I had a bigger problem!

Excellent answer...Exact same problem that I have

I can't believe it. I spent over an hour with apple support on the phone. Then when I read your response I tried pressing on both sides of the trackpad and blowing and the cursor immediately stopped jumping around! I hope this (simple) fix is all I needed to do!! Thank you so so much!

Thank you.

Pressed down both sides of the trackpad, gave it a blow, and the trackpad runs smooth again.

Might be a bit late but I found that restarting the MacBook in recovery mode (hitting restart and holding down command-r until seeing the Apple logo) and then starting in normal mode fixed it. My problem was third party software interference though.

Thank you. Your tip was helpfull for me.
