iPod 5th gen not charging

I recently charged my iPod, and all of a sudden it has stopped working and won't charge anywhere in the house, inclunding the computer and wall docks. How can I charge my iPod?

Hello Georgina,

It's impossible to use your iPod touch if it will not charge, so I would be concerned with this behavior too.  I found an article with steps that address the issue you are experiencing on your iPod touch.

I recommend following the steps under the sections titled "Battery does not appear to charge" and "Will not power on, or will not turn on unless connected to power" in the following article:

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Same thing happened to me recently, i found that if i LICK the lightning connector first it will charge fine!!! *** i know but it works...the cable i have is quite worn so licking it makes it connect...i do NOT recommend doing this though cause im sure its not good for your phone/pod or you!

I suggest you get a new cable

BLOOD HUNTER, did you notice that the post is 6 months old? I thing the OP resolved it by now.

IPod Touch 5th generation takes charge for a short while then completely down. Have had it for few months.

Thanks.
