2017 Macbook Pro 13.3" fan issue

On a 2017 Macbook Pro 13.3" non-touch bar, does the fan NOT run all the time?  The only time mine has been on is when I ran a diagnostic test to make sure it even worked.  I've had the laptop for about a month, and not once has it been on except for the test I did on the laptop.  Is that normal?  I do basic web surfing, watch YouTube videos, some documents, but nothing "labor intensive".  I've never owned an Apple laptop before this one, so I'm still learning it....
