files within apps

I create music and art files on my iPad/iPhone. How do you manage the files within apps now that the ability to drag files from the app to the desktop is gone? I used to be able to see a list of my apps with files within them after plugging in my device.

When your iPhone is connected, if you click on the iPhone/iPad icon to the right of the media type drop-down, do you see the "File Sharing" menu in the sidebar as shown here?
