how do I stop dock icons roller coaster movement

Thank you.  I actually meant that nauseating magnification thingee that happens as I scroll over the icons.  I finally unchecked magnification and it worked!!!!   I kept thinking magnification was related to size of icons and labels, as in font size.  DUH!!!  Thank you, though.  I don't know why it started magnifying but I"m glad it's over : )

Do you mean bouncing when opening apps?

System Preferences > Dock, uncheck "Animate opening applications"

Or do you mean

System Preferences -> Dock -> Magnification
