restored mail folder from Time Machine cannot b...

I'm not sure how it happened, but a folder of emails got emptied. the folder remains. For the sake of this conversation, its called "103 119 st". I did a search in apple support and followed the instructions described here:

recover mail from Time Machine ?

The emails are then findable by search, but are described as being in a folder called "103 119 st-1"

I cannot find that folder. the original folder, "103 119 st" is still empty.

I also tried Mail>mailbox> rebuild. No luck.

any thoughts?

After entering Time Machine, type cmd-shift-G. That will bring up the Go To Folder dialog.    Information learned from Barney-15E

Paste this into the box.

~/Library/Mail/V2

Search inside the V2 for the e-mails.

Hi Eric,

I entered time machine this way:

Mail in foreground, selected folder in question. Entered time machine. tried cmd+shift+g, nothing happened other than the "chime" sound macs make some times.

then restored emails to folder. tried tried cmd+shift+g again, nothing happened other than chime sound.

mail showed the emails, but with no folder attributed. I then clicked on relevant folder and the emails disappeared.

so I never got to this:

Paste this into the box.

~/Library/Mail/V2

did I misunderstand something?
