My iPad charging adapter just caught on fire. S...

Yikes! I just turned the lights out to go to sleep when I heard a strange crackling noise that sounded like it was coming from inside my bedroom. The room was dark and I completely froze, stunned by what it was. Seconds later I heard it again, this time followed by an intense smell of burning. I jumped up, switched on the lights and began a frantic hunt for what was on fire while quickly getting myself dressed in case the house was burning down! I checked the outlets. It smelled like an electrical fire. I was quickly unplugging everything while sniffing around for the source of the smoke. I went to unplug my iPad charger and the white cube adapter was so hot I couldn’t touch it but yanked it out of the electrical outlet! I could smell it smoking before I even got it near my nose. Had it happened any later I would have been asleep. I could have been a blip on the 11 o’clock news and my family could have sued Apple for millions, or whatever Apple thinks my life is worth! What a freaky experience. Now I’m not sure how I should proceed. Do I discontinue charging in my home? I’m too nervous to plug in my iPad now.
