Slight delay in play

This hadn't happened until a few weeks ago but now I'm experiencing a slight delay (around :03) in the start of songs in iTunes for Mac v12.6. What might be causing this or, conversely, what do I do to stop it?

Can anyone offer a solution to this really annoying problem?

Same here. 3-10 second beach ball delay when skipping songs. Brand new MacBook Pro with a very large music library.
