Apple Watch causing AirPod connection to drop o...

When I am watching a video on my iPhone (e.g. YouTube or Marco Polo) and move my arm in any way that causes my Apple Watch screen to wake, the video will stop playing and the AirPods connection symbol disappears from my iPhone even though they still are "connected" in settings.  I just received my Apple Watch Series 3 earlier this week, but I think this was even happening on my original watch after I updated to WatchOS4 (but I can't remember for sure).  If I put my watch in airplane mode, it doesn't drop connection, but I don't want to have to remember to do that and then take it back out of airplane mode.

Any ideas on a solution for this?  I'm hoping this is just another "bug" to get worked out in the next software update.
