iTunes Mini Player

Does anyone else notice that the mini player now forces you to view that ugly grey bar with track times and track name ?. Previous versions of iTunes allowed for just the album art to display until you would scroll your cursor over the image, and then it would flash the menu to skip track, rewind etc.

I know that this is a petty visual complaint of mine. Does anyone know how to make that go away ? or was this a part of programming that is permanent for now?.
