remove gstatic

gstatic was suddenly added to my list of wi-fi networks.

google says it is dangerous, etc.

how do I get rid of gstatic.

my concern is that I may inadvertently join that network and then get hacked

again: how do I remove gstatic from my list of available wi-fi networks?

your device will not arbitrarily connect to networks without you facilitating the connection.

if you went ahead connected to this network select it using the info icon from your list (Settings>Wi-Fi) and select "Forget This Network), shut off Auto-Join and Auto-Login. You may also want to turn on Ask to Join Networks, but this will prompt you to connect to all your known, trusted networks.

In Network in System Preferences, I can see the gstatic very long number. However, when I tried to join that network it wouldn't let me.

I also could not click "ask to join" because it is grayed out for some reason.

What concerned me is that, earlier, when I opened a new tab, I got a message telling me to go to gstatic.com which I did not do. When I open a new tab now, it does not do that anymore.

So, it looks like inadvertently or automatically logging into the gstatic network may not be as easy as I feared.

Thanks, JimmyCMPIT, for your prompt reply.

I guess I will continue to scroll down on the wi-fi icon once in a while to make sure I'm still on my airport network.
