iTunes content on external hard drive

Hi guys,

I have two minor issues to solve.

1.

I have all my iTunes content on an external hard drive and want to 'tell' the iTunes on my new MacBook Pro where all the content is. For now, I plugged in the hard drive to my new Mac, started iTunes and changed the path to the iTunes media in the preferences. But iTunes still shows the download icon on all movies, music albums etc. So it's still not seeing the content. What do I miss?

2.

In this context, I also have an old library (older music from an older Apple ID) on my Windows PC and want to integrate the music on my new Mac. What is the easiest way?
