Download .mobileconfig with iPad

Hi, i'm trying to get a profile that i want to distribute via web but when i access to URL with my iPad, Safary show me the my .mobileconfig file, but Safary don't download it

I have run into the same issue. You can email the .mobileconfig file to a user (Gmail, Yahoo, etc), but then you can't guarantee they will delete that email and protect the security.

I have the same problem. Does anybody have a solution for it? The email work around works but than you always need a Mac to get it solved.

My friend and I had the same problem on our iPads - 64GB with 3G. We clicked on a link to install our company's VPN profile, but it would not launch the profile install window. The mobileconfig file would just show up as a document icon in Safari.

However, all of a sudden today, my friend's iPad was able to install the exact same mobileconfig file when clicking on the link in Safari. However, my iPad still wold not launch the mobileconfig profile install window. So so strange!!! Why did it like my friend today, and not me?

I have cleared my Safari history, cache, cookies and it still would not launch the profile install window for me. I am so sad that my friend has VPN and I don't.

Most probably, the problem is that the file isn't served with the correct MIME type. You must configure your Web server to send a Content-Type header with the following MIME type : application/x-apple-aspen-config for .mobileconfig files.
If you use PHP on your server you can also set this header with the header() PHP function.

So after reinstalling all Apps on my iPad I was able to find out the problem (at least for me)

I installed each App after the other and after I installed the App Notebooks for iPad the Problem shows up.

So please check if you are using this App.

Just a note for anyone else experiencing this. We found the exact same problem occurs when the "VGA Expedition" app is installed. Removing that app fixed the problem and allowed Safari to load the .mobileconfig file properly without giving an error.

I also had the same problem. I uninstalled the Mover Lite APP and then I was able to install the mobileconfig file.

I have only seen this with mobilconfig files for iPad, the iPod touch and the iPhone's seem to work fine.
Has anyone seen this problem with a device that is not an iPad?

This also happens with the File Browser app.

Indeed! This solved my very same problem. Thanks

Well, I suggest if you wish to put it on the web to distribute it, and have some problems, I would suggest it is the we page you are using. Make sure the file extension is .mobileconfig and that you use a site such as mediafire for direct downloads. Some sites would compress it to a rar or zip file.

I had the same problem, but I finally solved it by following what was suggested here https://thedesignspace.net/MT2archives/000828.html.

So hope this can also help you to figure out your problem

Thank you. This worked.

You can upload the file to google drive, make the link sharing public with link. copy link. go to this site. paste in the link. click button, copy output link. short url output link. add link to website via <a href="YOUR LINK HERE">MY LINK</a>.
