WIFI off and will not turn back on

My wifi connection was being spotty, so I turned off the wifi and tried to turn it back on, and I click the button and nothing happens. And at the top when I hover over the wifi logo it says "no wifi hardware installed". I've tried restarting my laptop but nothing is working. I am able to click on the "turn wifi on" button but it doesn't do anything.
