iCloud contacts for Outlook disappeared after u...

Ever since the most recent update to iCloud, the iCloud contacts on my desktop PC's utlook 2106 have disappeared. Moreover, I can't set tehm back. Whenever I try to ad them I get this error message on Outlook setup for icloud:

"your setup couldn't start because your username or password is incorrect. Go to icloud for windows, sign out, and sign back in."

Needless to say, "sign out, and sign back in" does not cure the problem.

I'm getting very frustrated with Apple, Google and Microsoft apparently designing their system updates to not work with their competitors' software and hardware.  It's particularly galling when something that used to work and interface, no longer does so.

Another example is Chromecast Audio not working on my iphone or Windows 10 desktop.

Has anyone managed to resolve this issue?
