Edited photos on ipad not downloading to mac bo...

IPad Air 2, version 10.3.3

Mac book pro 2012, OS X 10.9.5,

When I edit photos in Camera Roll or Photo Stream on my ipad the edited version does not show in Photo Stream and sync with my mac book pro in Photo Steam. I can however edit in Photogene and export to my library they will go to Photo Stream and sync with my iPad. Can someone please tell me how to edit on my ipad in Camera Roll or Photo Stream and have it go to Photo Stream on my mac book pro. Thanks
