Kernel Panic on OS Sierra Install

After initiating an install for OS Sierra on my 15 inch Macbook Pro, I returned to see a Kernal Panic on boot up. After restarting the boot up process stalls and on pressing any key the kernel panic appears.  The machine won't boot up in safe mode, I have reset PRAM, SMC but no luck. I can boot OS El Capitan from an external USB and access my hard drive and see my contents.

What are my options?IMG_7709.JPG

Looks like the USB human interface device driver is blowing up. Try disconnecting any USB devices and seeing if it boots without panicing. If that works, then add the USB devices back one at a time, rebooting each time to find the culprit.

Unfortunatley even after restarting the Mac with all ports (including power) empty, I still get a kernel panic.

Boot into Safe mode

If that works, please post the panic report from

Kernel Panic reports: Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder -> /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

<https://support.apple.com/kb/ht2546>

<https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553>

The panic report should have "panic" in the file name.

If you have several recent panic reports, please post a few of them in separate replies.

Then post a copy of the EtreCheck output

Had the same problem.  I did a hard shutdown and rebooted while holding down the option key. Of the drives presented I chose the macOS installer. The installation then proceeded without the kernal panic.

I have the same problem.

I can't start in safe mode. Pressing Shift while booting yields the same result.

I tried to reinstall it several times by booting into local recovery but same problem.

I tried to recover to previous version by booting into internet recovery but it won't because it says I have newer version.

I tried the alternate booting suggested by Hondo but I only get my primary HD, which produces the same problem.

Now I'm stuck. Can't go forward and can't go back.

Try resetting the NVRAM by powering off and holding comman+option+P+R and then power on. Once you hear a second chime, let go and see if it boots.

Tried that. Same result.

Try an SMC Reset. Power off and unplug everything except for the power cable. press Control+option+shift+power button and let go. The magsafe LED should turn green and then amber. Then try to boot up.

I tried resetting the SMC. Same result.

Just wondering, have you tried restarting and holding Command-R and reinstalling the OS?

Tried local recovery using Command-R to reinstall Sierra 3 times. Same result.

same problem here. no mac anymore

I get the suggestion to run Diagnostic mode, but that doesn't run either

Did it kernel panic when going into local recovery? If not, have you performed first aid on your disk by going into disk utility and selecting first aid?

I get the panic after the installer progress is at the end. What happens is that it reaches the end and nothing happens for a while. As soon as I touch the keyboard, it panics.

For me I can run first aid, which I did. Didn't find any problems, and I still get the same result.
