when will there be a macbook pro with 32gb ram?
MacBook proSorry, we cannot tell you that. We, here, are volunteers and not given information about Apple's forward plans.
Hi,
There have been rumors to that effect, but at this point that's all they are is rumors, and we're not supposed to discuss rumors like that here.
Think of a computer as a tool for doing a job.
Video editors want powerfull tools for video editing and rendering.
So they purchase an iMac or Mac Pro with allot of ram and CPU cores and a fast SSD.
Maybe the you want a different tool for doing your job.
it is always easier to do a job if you use the right tool.
You might want to look into the iMac or wait for the iMac Pro.
The MacBook Pro is portable computer that runs on batteries. The main issue surrounding memories larger than 16GB is power consumption. Using more than 16GB RAM also means the use of a larger memory controller chip, one of the fastest and hottest components inside, according to this article:
The Mac Pro [desktop] and the upcoming iMac Pro offer very large memories, and its memory features Error Detection and Correction, a must for very large memories that might be crunching a problem for days to weeks on end.
Excellent!
With a full 64K bytes of RAM (60K available to the programmer) because its OS is held in ROM in a separate Address space. Weighing only 24 lbs!

I love the history of the Osborne. If I recall correctly, the company early-announced its next model, which it said was going to be much better, and available in a few months. Everyone agreed, and stopped buying the current model. Before the next model got to market, the company went bankrupt because almost everyone decided they would wait for the (faster, better, cheaper) next model. No sales meant no money to build the next one.
wikipedia had this to say, even coining the term:
The Osborne Effect
According to proponents of the Osborne Effect, Adam Osborne damaged his company's current sales when he began showing the Osborne Executive to journalists in early 1983. Dealers rapidly started cancelling orders for the Osborne 1 in anticipation of the new Executive. Unsold inventory piled up and in spite of dramatic price cuts – the Osborne 1 was selling for $1295 in July 1983 and $995 by August – sales did not recover. Losses, already higher than expected, continued to mount, and OCC declared bankruptcy on September 13, 1983.[3] Disagreementexists on whether the Osborne Effect truly caused the company to collapse, withRobert X. Cringely and Charles Eicher attributing its failure to other causes.[5][6]
.
It's not just video editors. I'm a professor and work on machine learning models and need to be mobile. Many of these models and the associated data require a lot of memory. Development is an iterative process. I like to develop locally and ultimately train what's close to a final model in a cloud computing environment. My turn around time is much faster following this approach versus debugging each model on a remote cluster.
