Does Use Of Apple Music in anyway alter the fil...

I am considering using Apple Music.  I have a concern about the functionality of Apple Music with iCloud and Matching.  I understand to use Apple Music you have to turn on iCloud Music.  I understanding that this will compare my iTunes library files on my MacBook with files available in Apple Music.  If there is no match a copy of the files will be uploaded. My concern with this process of comparing and uploading is does anything in this process change or alter any aspect of the music files that are on my MacBook?  Is any metadata, album art, audio codec or any other aspect of my personal files altered?
