What SSD is fuly compatible with a 2011 macbook...

What ssd wont give me any compatibility problem on my 2011 macbook pro 15'' with I7 2,2ghz?

i dont think that any ssd would give you any compatibility problems on the pro. i would suggest a samsung or a crucial ssd. i know on crucial, they sell them for pretty cheap. heres the link:

OCZ or OWC brand only.

Everything else is rubbish.

Plus OWC have a money back guarantee!

Plus their customer support is worth every cent!!!

However. Check out the hardware issues with the current 2011 MBP's first.

An SSD with 2.5 INCH-INTERNAL and 3.0 Gb/s SATA you should be looking for. I bought the intel 320 series i hope that helps.

3.0GB/s is only SATA II.

If the 2011 Macbook Pro can be tested at SATA III - that actually runs at 6.0GB/s...So the OP would need to try testing this with a Money Back Guarantee for instance from OWC for the 6.0GB/s SSD drives. Some users have even reported being able to run dual 6.0GB/s SSD's in their 2011 MBP's with the 2.5" drive mount in place of their DVD drive.

That could have been an expensive mistake for the OP.

What about BSOD? I wont have this problem with a ocz vertex 3, or a intel 510, force 3?

BSOD on Vertex 3 is Windows.

I would strongly recommend the only SSD with a money back guarantee for 30 days if it doesn't work on your 2011 macbook pro at the full 6.0GB/s - the Mercury EXTREME Pro SSD 2.5 Serial-ATA

Hope that answer's all your questions.

I live in Brazil. I think that i cant ask for my money back or it will be really hard to do that

Give them a call?

You will find their customer service beyond helpful!

I am on my third try with an aftermarket SSD. I had OWC install a Mercury Extreme 6G 256g SSD. It beach balled to the point that it would not boot...sent it back, they said it failed...got a new one...it failed..sent it back...they are now installed the 512..maybe it will work better. I should have it back tomorrow. I will keep this forum posted. ANYBODY have a new 15" MBP with an OWC SSD that is working properly??

Thanks,

Stewart

Not very promising. I have an end 2008 Macbook Pro 15" and I want to replace the HD with a SSD drive. Any difference with the 2011 one in terms of compatibility?

Am using the MBP 17 11 week March. Worked with the OWC 6G Extreme 120GB and have replaced it with the Vertex 3 MI 240GB and it has worked fine also. This is a hit and miss affair. Some work great and some don't for some unknown reason. However, my optical bay is only 6/3.

I have a 17" MBP brand new and tried to install an SSD this week but after a successful installation, it will not boot to the new drive. Put the original drive back in and it's all fine.

I cannot remember the manufacturer of the SSD but will come back and update this post with it.

I will be calling Apple to find out what to do as the drives aren't cheap and I would prefer an SSD to a fast SATA drive.

I'd recommed the samsung 470 if you want to be sure it'll work for the next few years without a hitch. It might not benchmark quite as quick as other drives but it's plenty quick enough in the real world.
