I had anti virus instlled on my Mac Book Pro by...

I was having a problem with a anti virus on my Mac Book.  On chat a person came on saying they were with Apple and could remove it and add a anti maiware and anti virus program, they did and now I find out it was not Apple  How do I get rid of this

Which program is it? Generally, you would use the developer's uninstall instructions.

If you don't know you can run Etrecheck and it will identify it.

I realize the last thing you want is another app but EtreCheck was created by one of own helpers here in ASC. It is a very light weight diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. Also it will give us further specs on your Mac. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information.
