iMessage error when sending a new message

Hello,

I'm having a problem with iMessage when I try sending one of my contacts a message using my MacBook Pro, and that contact doesn't have a country code on his phone number "+xxx xxxxxxxx" (this format).

When I choose the contact from the contacts list I get this error : 'x' is not registered with iMessage.

On my iPhone every thing works fine.

When this person sends a message to me I don't see his name but only his phone-number with the country code.

I noticed that If I add this contact the country code +xxx only then I'm able to see his name and send him a message, and only then it syncs the contact information from my iCloud account.

This is an issue that has appeared in Sierra when the telephone numbers of Contacts that live in the same country are now not adjusted by the Messages app and therefore appear as Not Registered.

There is only one "Fix" at present.

Add the Country Code to all your same Country Contacts.

Obviously large numbers of Contacts may cause a headache to get them all done.

Also tell Apple https://www.apple.com/feedback/messages.html

The issue is cased by the fact that Messages not longer reads the file com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist

In fact if you delete this file it is also not recreated.

This file used to hold the Country you are in and then add that detail to the "Local" phone Numbers.

The iOS does it automatically so you then get an Contact App sync issue which is why you then only see the full number as Contact as the app does not "see" the part that will give your the Contact's other details such as their Name
