Podcast management with iTunes 12.7

I have so many issues with podcasts on iTunes 12.7 that it is difficult to know where to start. First, it automatically deleted videos I had saved. Fortunately, I was able to recover them. But mainly, I have had less luck with podcasts. Several episodes just disappeared, never to be found again. Some podcasts have locked "subscribed" buttons. Some podcasts inform me that "This podcast has been deleted from another device, but has saved episodes" and asks me if I want to Resolve (whatever that means). When I click that button, I get the message "Do you want to delete or restore syncing of the 'podcast name' podcast?", with the options to cancel, restore sync, or delete. I do not want to restore sync (because I want to manage my podcasts on my Mac) and do not want to delete (which apparently removes all unsaved episodes). None of this was a problem before 12.7.

Apple has done what has become a more frequent occurrence -- put out an inferior revision of iTunes. Does Apple not realize that many of its users want to focus on our Macs and use our phones, tablets, and other devices as auxiliary devices. I can live with the focus on phones and tablets but not with the force feeding of this kind of junk. Despite being an Apple fan since I got my first Mac -- the original 128K model -- in 1984, I am rethinking my plans to get a new Macbook Pro and latest iPad. This insanity has got to stop!
