USB Audio CODEC disappears and basic line in ap...

I use an external sound card device for my Amateur Radio.  There is special software that has an OS X version.  When I run on a MacBook Pro with El Capitan, the USB Audio Codec used to communicate to the USB attached sound card device works fine.  If I try to use the same on another MacBook Pro with Sierra OS X, the USB Audio Codec becomes unselected in preferences and goes back to basic line in and out after a short time.  I have heard of one person using an app called "Loopback" that can cause Sierra to not "loose" the connection to the USB Audio Codec.  Is there an Apple fix instead of a $99 app to make this work in Sierra?  Will High Sierra have the problem fixed?
