Yes, more RAM would help. Macs are fussy about RAM. I'd suggest you check the RAM modules you'll need with the advisory tool in Crucial, or OWC. Both reliable vendors.

In addition, you are getting low on hard disk space. I suggest you clear off some data. The more space the better your OS will function. Also, you are running a number of Seagate disk tools and drivers. These are unnecessary and can cause a hit on performance. And your Verizon Cloud is crashing, you may want to troubleshoot that.

Ok, thanks so much. Yes, I do need to clean house. I removed Seagate and Verizon cloud... Verizon cloud was crashing because I refuse to let them on my computer. thank you so much!

You are welcome. As far as housecleaning, please do not use any of those "cleaning" utilities, they will only make matters worse. One program you can use safely is Omni DiskSweeper. It can show you the precise size and location of all your files. It will inventory your disk starting from the files that take up the most space. If you want you can even delete files from OmniDisk Sweeper. But be careful some of the items may be important to your system.

Thanks again for your help! I'll check out Omni Disk Sweeper!

I just had time to look into cleaning off my iMac with Omni... I really don't know what is safe to delete and not to delete. Can I delete old versions of OS? I did find under applications that OS X mavericks and OS Sierra are on my computer even though I've updated a year ago to El Capitan. There doesn't seem to be a lot that I can delete... since most of the space is taken up by my photo libraries and iMovie. Let me know if I can delete old versions of OS. thank you!
